I lived in the Detroit Metro area for 20 years and was thrilled to see the Detroit Lions in the playoffs…and was crushed when their lead collapsed in the NFC Championship game.
Shortly afterward while participating in Jeannette Ouellette’s Story Challenge, our Week 9 assignment was to write dialog between two inanimate objects. Given all the hoopla surrounding Kansas City making it to the Super Bowl, I chose Detroit’s Old English D and the Kansas City Chief’s Arrowhead logo.
“Hey Arrow, good game!”
“Dude, sorry you couldn’t pull out the win, D. I was hoping for your boy Marshall and our girl Taylor to face off.”
“Me too. But at least we represented this year.”
“We were rooting for you. The whole country was.”
“Thanks Arrow. At least it wasn’t us against everyone else like usual.
“Next year.”
“Count on it. And good luck on the 11th…win the damn thing and make heads explode.”
What a fun approach to the Story Challenge! - from a cheesehead in Packerland
