First Glimpse: Asheville's Stunning Murals
Asheville Day 1
June 1st, 2023 ~ We got a smoking airfare deal to Asheville, NC so we made plans for a long weekend.
It was so beautiful and green flying in, with the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
Surprise at the car rental desk…the USAA reservation had us coming in on a private plane (lol, don’t we wish). So, Hertz assigned us a Dodge Charger instead of the tin can we paid for. Score!!
After checking into our rental, we enjoyed a nice 4 mile walk downtown to check out the murals and have dinner…and took a Lyft back.
The building murals are stunning.
And much of the artwork matches the function of the building or surroundings.
This was a comic shop selling DC Comic books.
A hair salon.

The words on the bottom right of this mural says: Support her * Foster her strength * Honor her power * Revel in her wisdom * Be there for her * See her vision too * Arm her with freedom * Stand up for her * Champion her dreams * Let her decide * Hold her in love. We loved this!
The Cat Clinic of Asheville, a live music venue, The Whale behind the Asheville Commons, and a funky convenience store.
Seems like this building might once have been a service station and a tire shop, now an office cleaning business.
A rescue mission.
And my personal favorite, this beautiful mural on a jewelry store.
On Day 2, we had tour tickets to see The Biltmore.
