Her story reminds us that sometimes the best of life truly is the rest of life…especially when you have the courage to step off the familiar path and onto one that leads you back to yourself.
What a lovely story, Deb. I wouldn't be writing had I not been laid off some years ago. I look at that time of my life as the Universe guiding me where I needed to go. I had planned to work until 70. Instead I published my first book and became a Substack writer. I shudder now to think I might have missed this opportunity. Thanks for sharing this.
After a 3+ decades of being in the carpentry and house painting trade, I went back to school at age 57 and became a licensed Massage therapist. I opened a one person biz out of my home and saw clients for the next decade until Covid came along and I stopped practicing. Occasionally I still get calls from people, but sadly I decline and tell them I am retired.
But retired for me doesn’t mean sitting around home. Even after taking off a year to recover from a broken hip, I keep busy with my veggie gardens each year and now as of last year, both my husband and I have volunteered with helping build a community garden and food forest in our little town in one of the Berwicks of Maine.
I applaud Fran for following her passion and Bliss! Keep on keepin’ on! 👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏼

It is sometimes an unexpected gift…good for you for being open to receive it. Congratulations on your success as a writer Sue!
