I love this post, Deb. My writing and productivity have taken a couple of hits this year--Goldmark's death on September 4 and then the election, both of which have left me unspeakably depressed and grieving. Like you, I need big spaces, and yet I feel shrunken and small. I do feel something shifting inside me, though I'm not yet sure what it is. I hope it's pointing in the direction of writing.
I haven't done NaNo since 2018, when I "won" . . . but afterward I found myself left with a mess. Maybe I didn't use it the right way.
Oh Susan, I'm right there with you. I think you used NaNoWriMo the right way...they always seem a mess afterward. My second attempt was better than my first, but it's definitely a process.
I suspect each of those adventures will find their way into your storytelling, your use of language, your whimsy, your playfulness, and your sense of adventure--- all such valuable aspects of a novel. There is the butt in the chair, and there is the life as it is being lived. And you get to do both!
Timely reminder for the pretty tense times we’ve in!
Thank you Judy!

Thanks for the kind words Sandra, I appreciate them!
