June 2023, Asheville, NC Day 3, Part 1 ~ Lessons learned from a hostel stay, more beautiful murals, and the scrumptious Hole Doughnuts
I had to chuckle at your attempts to stay in a youth hostel. Confirmed for me I don't need to try that. Ha! Hitchcockian vibes.
Glad we could save you the trauma🤪
I totally get the “too old for this shit” part!!!🤚🏻😂😂
Right, Lynn?!?
Too funny, Deb. I don't blame you though! The murals are beautiful - love all the colors!
I’ve never seen a city with more beautiful murals…they were stunning!
Interesting hostel comments.
I have several booked in Australia next year.
The way I look at it, as long as I have a bed in my own room, I have a place to escape to.
People come and go and if the mood isn't right, it will change. Or, I will move on.
Either way, its only a few nights.
If I plan on staying more than 7 days, I would book an apartment somewhere.
I would rather spend my money on activities than upscale accommodation.
I totally agree with you and am not looking down on the idea. What I was dismayed by was the price wasn’t much different from a hotel room and there were no operational window coverings, which was why we moved on.
I have heard other comments similar when looking at hostels in North America vs Australia or Europe.
If a hostel is not considerably cheaper than a hotel, it makes no sense to even entertain the idea.
But if I can get a single room for less than $80 per night when the hotels are more than $150, hostel it is!
Agree!!
