Wow. I think those yellow "snow cat" vehicles are called Bombardiers. I recognize them from northern Minnesota. They are used to transport people for ice-fishing expeditions. Reliable winter transportation in many Indigenous communities in northern Manitoba and Ontario. And how shocking to see how much the glacier has receded in 50 years. Thanks for the tour!

Thanks Jill, I updated the description! It was shocking and sad to see how the glacier is disappearing.

I've gone done the rabbit hole investigating the Bombardiers and their history. In snow country, they are key modes of transportation.

Wow, Deb, what a trip you had! Tucson is beautiful too, but it had to be hard to leave the Canadian Rockies!

What an experience it must have been to see the Athabasca Glacier upfront and personal. To witness the changes and retreat of a massive glacier over a span of 100 years is truly astounding. And how wonderful to share it with the couple married for 65 years! Thank you for sharing!

You’re welcome Mary, it was truly astounding and sad to see how far the glacier had receded. The couple brought an extra dose of resonance to the story since they had seen it personally decades earlier.
