PS. Have you found it difficult, as you predicted, to focus on writing while on the road? This is a contemplation for me always. Which better supports my writing practice, the stopping and staying or the moving? I mean, in some ways, it's obvious--given the time factor of road life. But I think I need both. :)
Absolutely. The week we traveled in February, it was all I could do to publish one post a week. But I need also need to do both, so once a week will be my new goal when we hit the road the end of April.
Yes, I'll bet you have some great road videos Holly! I got the idea to start my Substack after posting on Facebook and hearing people tell me they love seeing our travels. What better way to broaden my audience with less reliance on Facebook, and relive our trips.
No, not usually since we take that trip four times a year however, two stand out:
We traveled from the Twin Cities to Bismarck and returned to Tucson during the 2021 holiday. During the drive from Minneapolis to Bismarck, we listened to "The Midnight Library" during a 10-hour white knuckle snowstorm.
Since we had July 2022 tickets to see Brandi Carlile, we wanted to listen to her memoir, "Broken Horses" on the way back to Tucson. Besides telling her story, Brandi sings on the Audible book...and the miles and days passed before we knew it. Her book must be listened to, not read.
Nothing like a book about alternate universes while you're driving through one! One way to get through a blizzard. I didn't realize Brandi sings in her audiobook and can imagine that would be a fun listen.
Lol, right Jill?! Broken Horses was an awesome listen. We’ve downloaded Barbra Streisand’s 94 hour book for our summer 2024 travels, which should be interesting.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride Deb, travel lust is hard to ignore. I hope to be acting on it in the next couple months. Safe travels to you both.
Ahhh, I traveledl full-time in an RV several years ago and traveled this same route. It's so beautiful driving through the mountains. I had an app that would tell me the name of the mountain we were passing. So much fun!

Wise!
Loved the video from the road. It made me realize I have videos from the road I should share. Very glad you're sharing your journey, Deb.

That's a LONG ride! Do you remember road trips by the audio books you listened to together?

You’re welcome, and I hope you do too Mark.

That would be cool, do you remember the name of the app?
Yes, it’s Peaks USA.
Great, I’ll check it out and thanks for the tip!!
